Rhino3D: Intermediate CAD for 3D printing

This session will show you a simple workflow using Rhino to create 3D printing files to start your very first 3D print!

We will also briefly cover the slicer programs Cura and Makerbot in this workflow and discuss the resources normally available to researchers at the University of Melbourne for 3D printing. Put simply 3D Data is object-based data, it is a mathematical representation of something three-dimensional. In many workflows a Computer Aided design (CAD) program will be required, and of the selection of CAD programs that are available Rhino3D is in the centre of an ecology of tools that will help you with your 3D data.

As an industry standard Rhino3D has been a staple of engineering and design for decades, and more recently emerging technologies such as 3D printing and 3D scanning have begun to revolutionise the way we record and manufacture spaces and objects.
