EAP workshop: Chit Chat: Strategies for engaging in small talk

This workshop is for non-native speakers of English. Making small talk is more than just getting to know someone new. It is an expected part of social behaviour, but making small talk isn’t always easy. Speakers must meet certain expectations and must talk about appropriate subjects which may vary from one culture to another. These activities will give you a chance to practice what to say when you’re face to face with someone new and want to get the conversation started.
